You Know What Really Grinds My Gears?

Lazy Fucking People.

Throw the trash into the bin, not near it, not on top of it, not where you want... but in the fucking bin. Dont pass the buck and point me to someone else. Do your job or die trying. The whole, its not my job or thats for this guy even though you have done it a billion times before is RETARDED... just do it. Stop crying people about having to work hard and actually spend time in your life doing something productive thats not fucking off on the internet, watching TV, or eating. If its not work, its friends, family, or god forbid the fucking stranger that is providing some god damn service to me being lazy as fuck. Whats worse is when the lazies complain... stage 2 culture. Really trash man? You have nothing better to do than dig through my trash bin and take out wood chips and claim its not proper trash material? You say I am responsible for taking this particular trash to the dump... the SAME FUCKING PLACE you are taking the rest of my trash. You cant process my paperwork because you what??? Or right, are lazy as fuck and would rather pawn the work off on someone else than do it yourself. God forbid you do your job and help someone out.

And thats... what really grinds my gears.
ACLackluster

We went and im pretty sure only pending an awesome lineup and the ability to buy tickets near the day of off craigslist will we be ever going back.

The day started with a bike ride downtown. It was nice to get out and the ride was downhill, definitely helped Misty out. We got to Zilker around 1 and had no problems finding bike parking. We were rather sweaty and I suggested hitting up the springs, but Misty refused and said she would wait for the rain. It never rained. It was just oppressively humid until around 6pm.

We went first to see the B52's. I didnt really care to see these guys and their gig was more than enough reason to not want to see them ever again. Its such a dated look. Ok, so you have a new album and play new music, yet you all continue to look like you did in the early 90s. You dont see many successful people clinging onto that image for decades. Let it go... please.

Next it was on to grab some lunch. They had a ton of awesome vendors and this was close to the hallmark of the day. We dined on a boomerangs meat/veggie pie and some fries. However, the food was not without suffering. Upon entering the park there wasnt a whole lot that looked bad. Sure it was a little muddy, but nothing out of the ordinary given the conditions and our expectations. The vendor area though was complete different situation. Without exaggeration, it was a cesspool. Water, inches deep of mud, a putrid smell, with little end in sight. Folks were walking around barefoot with mud to their shins, if you wore shoes you couldnt tell what type and where they began/ended. This set the tone for the whole day. Just this pure avoidance of mud that could never be achieved. We stood in the middle of muck holding food for each other, it was magical.

Caught the toadies next and they rocked the house. Lots of oldies, very few new stuff. All of my expectations were met with a few extras. Only wish I didnt have stuff with me so I could move up to the front and get crazy.

The best act of the day was the The Dead Weather. They were great. The beats, the sound, it was all pretty awesomeness. Ill definitely look to hook up their stuff in the future. They are like this hybrid band of members from other bands like the White Stripes and Queens of the Stone Age.

Lastly was Pearl Jam. They were no doubt really good and deserving of the headline. I wish I was up in the energy of the mob for that one, but I opted to stick with Misty. I ditch her enough for these things and the only thing that could have happened was I got covered in mud (wasnt interested in that one). They played a lot of old stuff which I didnt care for all that much. They have lots of good songs from vs on, so I was sad to hear like 8 songs from their original. Oh well i guess. Thats what you get when you hit up these things.

Anyhow, last one for this guy. Word
District 9... good, but not great.

These reviews for D9 are fucking ridiculous. "best sci-fi ever!", "challenging Lucas", "sci-fi mechanics are spot on" blah blah blah. The movie was good no doubt. You have a not so obvious hero, but the mechanics of the sci-fi world here were a little shaky.

1. How is it the aliens speak alien and the humans speak human, but they all understand each other. I hate the bs language barrier issues. Just go with what everyone else does and just use english.

2. It took twenty years for these goons to find enough fuel to create the power source to turn on the big ass gynormous mother ship. It turns out to be a DROP of liquid as the final touch and they are all good. Then asshole hero opens the bottle on himself where it sprays the fuck out of him and yet there is plenty left to continue the plot of the entire movie and see these aliens off to power up the mothership and leave. Total bullshit.

3. Said liquid also has the magical power of changing a human into an alien... convenient.

4. Goon 1 was able to operate the mother ship and beam himself up into the mother ship (tractor beam, not particle photon beam) from a remote ship. This whole process fucked the logic of the plot up... pure stupidity rocking right here.

5. Aliens are powerful, but not more so than standard concentration camp walls and minimal arms. just not impressed. why bring them down anyway!

Overall as a sci-fi film, it was good and enjoyable. The alien guns are fucking awesome and there are some not meant to be funny funny parts definitely worth laughing at. But its not some sky opening, devine right of sci-fi greatness. I said it here first.

good times ahead

i've been in the new place for over a week now. its been a lot better than I previously anticipated it might be. my main concern has been wasting money on air conditioning the house, but at 82 during the day and 78 at night, it seems to level off quite nicely. i have surprisingly been OK with the temp (im typically hot as balls) as I kept my apartment at 78 during the day and 74 at night. The fans all over the place help immensely as well though. There's a little bit of an ant party going on around the house. Ive done well to get that shit under control, but they creep up from time to time. All in all, im really impressed/pleased with the purchase. If only this fucking weather would let up so I could enjoy the park across the street and outdoors.

Im really excited about getting the place leveled over the next two days. thats a pretty big deal in that I can then begin addressing any of my efficiency concerns such as fixing/replacing windows/doors. i may need to update the AC unit... though ill be doing some cleaning of the system in the attic this week in hopes to make it more efficient. Im a little nervous about braving the attic, some archniphobia type shit is bound to happen and scare the shit outta me it seems. That or ill find a next of fucking rats or something sick like that to make my day awesome.

Anyhow, looking forward to getting it decorated and setup up in preparation for a house warming. the backyard is l33t sauce and will serve a party well. perhaps ill time it when my boy comes back from europa. word
Word to your moms I came to drop bombs

So my apartemento was rocking with a total of 6 people last night, 6! That does tie an all time high of most folks to enjoy my abode at one time. There was a solid game of Catan on and Zach was murderated in the second game. He was forced to only 2 cities, but he did finish near to second. We dined on some awesome Cowboy Burgers from Whole Foods. Now if you have not heard of these beasts nor actually tried one, ill tell you that its the most magnificent piece of meat you will put in your mouth (thats what she said!). Go now, ill wait.

I won game 1, Dale won game 2. He used the fuck out of Zach to achieve victory... lame. :)

Lebowski Scavenger Hunt on Friday was cool. A little too damn hot and not terribly difficult. It appears as many folks had done this before and prepped accordingly. Many of the items on the listing were not things you want to carry around DT Austin. Im also not so trusting of their scoring procedures. I smell favoritism. V-slice was after the show. It was a great show. He rocked for an hour and half, came into the crowd for a number, and played only 5 new songs (but they all sounded pretty awesome). Misty and I didnt eat all day and had a few shots to get amped for the show. Definitely a good call!

And now its back to work. Sweet!

80's Cover Band and Speakeasy

Went out on Wednesday night with folks from out of town to Speakeasy on Congress and 4th. I have noticed bars and such around congress and down 4th, but never cared to take much notice in them since it the "classier"/upscale part of the Austin entertainment scene.

So we enter the club to find that there is an 80's ROCK cover band rocking the place that night. I have to admit, I was thoroughly impressed by the guys. From the music to the diggs, they had it all. Leather all the way, long beautiful curly hair, head bands, braclets, and lots of hair banging. There was a fog machine and fans all around so there hair was glistening and waving around as they were playing, it was pretty surreal. I was like, where the hell am i?

The craziest part though was the obcene number of skanks rocking out this place. Skanks is the word SHOLA used to describe it, so you know it was pretty risque in there. Bitches in high heels, tight pants, huge fake tits falling out of shirts, and they were making out and groping each other the entire night. I was dumbfounded. Again, another bout of ... is this AUSTIN? Wtf man.

To top the night off, they played the song "Girls Girls Girls" and asked all the bitches to get up on stage. Sure enough, they filled the stage (though misty was keen to hide behind me and avoid the meat market, good for her!). As he is playing the song, all these girls knew they were being gauked at (why else dress that way) and it was magical. I prolly could have rubbed one out right then and there, no joke.

Well, thought I would share the amaziness. Saw some boobies when the bitches left the stage and one had her tits flop out of her shirt. Awesome.

Lets all get stoned!

Obviously not the most glorious of executions, but fuck, at least its an execution. Eye for an Eye bitches. Im consistently baffled by the justice system handing out life sentences to murders and rapists. WTF mate. These people fucked up, lets just put them down and move on. If we stoned them, at least its some form of retribution for the effected... however I would be willing to just execute them quick and painless (relatively as I guess there is a millisecond or so of intense pain). Instead we feed and house these fuckers forever and ever... Do we not have enough good people that kicking a few bad ones to the curb could go unnoticed... I think if you knew that killing someone was going to mean you would be dying as well you would do us all a favor and just commit suicide. Ive got to hand it to Iran, there is certainly no fucking around.

Officials say two men in Iran have been stoned to death for adultery and murder, while another escaped death by digging his way out of the hole where he was buried to face a similar fate, according to media reports.

The sentences follow sharp criticism by human rights groups of Iran's use of such punishments.

Judiciary spokesman Alireza Jamshidi on Tuesday told reporters about the stonings, which took place in the northeastern city of Mashhad about 20 days ago, the reports said.

According to the Mashhad prosecutor, the men committed various crimes, including adultery and murder, Jamshidi said.

In the practice, the men are buried up to their chests and people pelt them with stones until they die.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/01/13/iran.stoning/index.html

Bored at work? Hack your brain.

DO YOU EVER want to change the way you see the world? Wouldn't it be fun to hallucinate on your lunch break? Although we typically associate such phenomena with powerful drugs like LSD or mescaline, it's easy to fling open the doors of perception without them: All it takes is a basic understanding of how the mind works.

The first thing to know is that the mind isn't a mirror, or even a passive observer of reality. Much of what we think of as being out there actually comes from in here, and is a byproduct of how the brain processes sensation. In recent years scientists have come up with a number of simple tricks that expose the artifice of our senses, so that we end up perceiving what we know isn't real - tweaking the cortex to produce something uncannily like hallucinations. Perhaps we hear the voice of someone who is no longer alive, or feel as if our nose is suddenly 3 feet long.
http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/ideas/graphics/011109_hacking_your_brain/b

Break in Review

Man, with two weeks off I really hoped to get a lot more done than I did. I mean, it wasnt a complete waste or anything, just not AS productive as I hoped. I seem to do that a lot, set expectations high and then not reach them. Ugh.

So went 1 for 2 in Lotr Risk proving that Zach is infact the weakest link (the Matt Kay of our times). His strategy isnt bad, its just his attitude. When you start playing like you have already lost, you tend to lose more often. Both Zach and Matt own that strategy. There was another dominant performance in Battlelore that once again left Jordan licking his wounds and insisting we dont play it anymore. Such a great, simple game that sits idle too often because jman cant either be on my team or figure out how to not lose *Jeff flexes both guns*.

I owned up a 2000 piece puzzle. That kept me busy day and night for about 3 days. I think when I get a house again one of these days (or really just another room) im going to have a puzzle going rather consistently. Its good stuff to just sit down with H and slap a few pieces in. Tiger Woods golf is coming along nicely. Ive nearly unlocked Super Tiger and at the same time made my own character as good as the regular Tiger. I think its about time I make it harder by setting up the more sensitive golf swing.

Misty was quite the little chef over the break. She made healthy meals for each time of the day with snacks mixed in as well. Im impressed by her growing skill in cooking. It was pretty awesome to be working on a puzzle or playing Tiger Woods and have a meal cruise on out to you. L33t s@uc3. She started and ended the break with my favorites which was pretty awesome. She makes this BBQ chicken enchiladas that takes like a day to prepare (she slows cooks the chicken in a crock pot with spices all day). They are super awesome. Then last night she hooked up some chicken fried steak with mashed taters and veggies galore. Solid.

The rewatching of the Buffy series has made it midway through the 3rd season. Oh the memories of this show. I watched it actively in high school and through freshman year at UT. Lots of harmones, parents, school, girls, etc going on that was typically amplified and exemplified by Buffy and the gang. And the memories of the cardboard cutout that was at all our college parties... yeah, holy hell. Good times.

Xmas was boring as usual. Went to the folks, saw the fam and brothers, came home. Its was all pretty quick and lacked emotion and organization. I want to relive the heyday of family interactions... those times when worlds collided and you had immense fun with the folks. Now I just go home and see how old and fat the folks are getting along with how dilapidated their house has become. Makes for a downer in the middle of the break. Perhaps next year I can forgo the holiday with the folks ala Sobin and just drive around the country for a few weeks. Yeah, thats infinitely better.

New Years wasnt as rocking as it has been in the past, but was fun times. We all got a little drunkz0rz and did some rearranging of Harpolds pantry. Its was a fun collaborative effort to keep us focused while getting hammerd. Thanks for hosting Rob!

I hope everyone had a good break, check it.

Rearrangin'

So im not one to sit and endure the same surroundings on a daily basis. Im always looking for a way to get rid of stuff I rarely to never use and condense down my belongings to open up space. My geniusness was at a premium this break where we rearranged the living area of our prison cell and it now looks quite large. its not super guest friendly, but what prison is? Im pretty happy with the results and we are not done yet. I think my room needs just a little bit of work.

Word to your moms.

I love this

But other Democrats seemed to be unhappy with the idea of helping automakers as well.

Rep.
Baseball Trip Details

Sun: Flew out to NYC. Got to our hostel to find that it was one step removed from a prison cell. The pictures online look great, but that was obviously staged. The bathroom was exactly what I would expect if I were in hell and the beds had this awesome bar that went right across the middle of the mattress. The mattress was probably to blame, but wtfer. We spent the rest of the night crusing downtown and at the ESPN Zone. Its pretty much the mecca for sports enthusiasts with a screen everywhere and a main wall with two jumbotrons wrapped with screens where every game espn had rights to display was on.

Mon: We cruised out to the bronx zoo (largest in the US) and viewed some shit. It was a lot of fun and killed most of the day. We saw them train some tigers which was the highlight. The beast was like 5 foot from us as they did tricks with it. Afterwards we hit up yankee stadium for our first game. Good times. We got hammered and I nearly got into a fight with this douche who showed up in the 6th inning and asked some people who moved up to get out of his seats. I said, "dude, its the 6th inning, just find someplace to sit down" to which he responded "i paid for these seats." I said fair enough and he then went on to say "ive got a kid here man, why dont you mind your own business and shut your trap or ill shut if for you." I was dumbfounded bec he didn have like a 2 year old with him and his little itty bitty wife. This arab dude wasnt that big either and I was more than ready to rock out (along with this chicagoan I met sitting in front of me), but i was calmed by my peers and some folks around us. Good stuff.

Tue: Hit the MET which was, yeah, a museum. And then went out for Sushi which was pretty awesome.

Wed: started the driving and went to Pittsburgh. Saw game number 2 where the pirates destroyed the dodgers. this was the best game we went to. Lots of action. Pittsburgh was a really neat city thats hidden in some mountains. You cant see it until you cross under or over the mountains and then it just shows up. pretty awesome for sure. left after the game for Erie, PA.

Thurs: made it into canada without issue. hit up the niagra falls action which was spectactular. I highly recommend for anyone interested. just very powerful and pretty. we went in the boat that brings you right up to the falls and it was incredible. the whole area is really nice though. well landscaped, nice clean streets and roads. left there in the afternoon and headed for toronto to see the blue jays play the Os. drive sucked hardcore bec of traffic. They gots no frontage roads in CA and it was really a problem. more so at night when they closed the ENTIRE HIGHWAY down for construction forcing all traffic to the middle shoulder area to pass through the area. We had to go 12 miles out of toronto to get to our hotel and it took an hour and half. fucking retarded.

Fri: got into the chi-town and got settled in then hit up a tappas place for beverages and food. closed that bitch down, had three pitchers of sangria, went home full and drunk... good times!

sat: hit up the museum of science and industry to see the green architecture exhibit. this was awesome. lots of great ideas for conserving energy and building smart. not all can be used here, but a lot. What i was pleased with is that many of the ideas were things i had already been thinking about or incorporating in some way in my designs. cruised the downtown area for a few hours then went up into the observatory for drinks. got to see the beach side of chicago from 95 floors up. got pretty drunk and kept the party going at a popular pizza joint. watched college football, drank beer, and ate deep dish. Left there to find a a homeless guy passed out in the middle of the sidewalk. he looked dead so we pushed him around to check on him and he wouldnt budge. had he passed out somewhere more convenient, i wouldnt have thought twice, but the middle of a the sidewalk forcing people to step over him... just too much. we called the police and they came and took him away in an ambulance. We then hit up a blues club and heard some rocking music till the wee hours. The EL ride home was fun as most were hammered drunk and we had some biatches doing some panty flashing... fucking skanks.

sun: cruised on out to wrigley to watch the fucking scrub team for the cubs play. probably the most boring game i have been to at wrigley. no one cared bec the cubs clinched the playoffs and were playing their second string. pretty annoying. we had fun though getting hammered and heckling the douche bag that was out our way. Went back to my uncles and chilled.

Mon: came home. yay!
